Paros is one of the most popular islands in Greece, attracting thousands of visitors every summer. It is famous for its beautiful beaches, the traditional architecture, the nightlife and the Cycladic villages. Naoussa, Lefkes, and Parikia are the most picturesque villages in Paros!
The most popular beaches to swim in Paros are, Kolybithres, Golden Beach and Santa Maria. On 15th of August, spectacular fireworks in Parikia turn night into day because of the feast of Vergin Mary (Panagia Ekatontapiliani). The Ekatontapiliani church next to the port of Paros in Paroikia, is particularly crowded, as the entire island descends in Parikia.
Navy ships also pay their respects to the religious ceremonies. A show not to be missed! The feast lasts until the early hours of the morning, with traditional music, Parian wine, and local delicacies. The best place to watch this event is “Evinos bar”. On a terrace with an amazing view of Aegen sea, Evinos is definitely unique.
You can drink your drink while listening to nice funk, soul, and rock music. Another amazing bar in Paros, located in Naousa, is “Salty”. It’s a cocktail bar with incredible music, delicious cocktails, and friendly staff. As for seafood lovers, “Barbarossa” is just the place to be.
“Αχινός” (Ahinos) is also a good idea for those who prefer ouzo. “Umi” is also a good choice for sushi lovers. If you have enough time you can visit Antiparos on a day trip. It is a small paradise island with crystal clear waters, lots of taverns and restaurants and also special boutiques and souvenir shops. The most famous sight on the small island of Antiparos is its Cave. This natural wonder is full of stalactites and stalagmites with different shapes. The only sure is that it’s worth a visit!
But before you leave the islands, do not forget to buy some souvenirs to take home and tasty local products.
Until the next time… Paros, see you soon!
